Well, this has been quite the week, capped off with me spending two entire days in DC with Jilane. Spontaneity is not my strong suit (it has a time and a place; that's what I always say), but I'm confident that changing my flight on a whim to come out here a few days early was the right call. I still haven't started my presentation for work, but that's what the rest of this evening is for.

From a running standpoint, this was certainly my most slack-ass week of the training cycle. And I'm okay with that. At this point, Jilane and I realize there's nothing much we can do to improve upon our fitness, and it's a good feeling to have the past five months' hard work in the proverbial bank. Next Sunday holds no guarantees, but I'm proud of us and what we've accomplished during this training cycle.

And so, inevitably, we've come to the point in this penultimate weekly recap where I must quote "Rent." Jordan is already aware of this and is preparing himself accordingly. But in all seriousness, the lyrics from my favorite song in this musical--about friendship, love and living every day to its fullest--could not be more appropriate for how I feel less than one week from go time. Throughout this training cycle, I have grown so much closer to Jeff, Owen, Jordan and Jilane. Especially Jilane. I could not have gotten through the past five months without knowing we were equally miserable at times and equally happy at other times. Regardless of what happens next weekend, the past few months have been more of a blessing than I could've ever imagined.
