Modified Pre-Race Workout

AM: 2.5 mile w/u + strides
Target: 3x400 @75, 3x1k @3:20, 3x400 @75
Actual: 3x90 secs., 3x3:00, 3x90 secs.
1 mile c/d
Total: 8.5 miles
PM: 20 mins. easy (2-2.5 miles)
Daily total: 11 miles

This was supposed to be a short, speedy pre-race workout on the track, but with temps hovering in the 30s and sustained winds of 20+ mph all day it simply didn't make sense. Battling the elements and feeling exhausted while falling short of goal times would've been the inevitable result, all of which runs diametrically opposed to the purpose of pre-race workouts. Thus, we opted for a chilly early morning effort-based setup on the common and the neighboring roads. I'm sure I fell well short of the goal paces, but the important thing is I finished feeling strong as opposed to defeated. On mornings like this, I'll count that as a victory.
